Starter question

All right i just talked to a guy on the phone about a supra hes selling. He said a guy gave it to him after he crashed it into a pole drove it home and parked it for 2 years. Anyone know why it wont start? The guy claims it has a bad started is there anyother reasons?

He said it tries to turn over but wont? the started just clicks. good idea I never asked him anything about the battery. Jeeze I can space things off real bad sometimes!

if parked for Two years the fuel has most likely dried up into a very nasty Tar :icon_sad: . This means that the fuel pump may be toast and the fuel filters and injectors clogged. You will need to remove the fuel tank and injectors and clean and replace fuel pump and filters. You may get away with cleaning fuel pump and getting it to work ymv

Thanks for the help we will have to find out when and if i buy it. I'm gonna ask him more questions tomarrow.

Try the simple things first, new fuel and charge battery, you maybe pleasantly suprised :biglaugh:

I just bought a supra that had been sitting for about a year and a half and it wouldnt start either. It was because the bad gas in the tank caused the pump to rust out. When I dropped the tank I also found one of the fuel lines was clogged and the tank had all kinds of crap in it so I cleaned that out as well. With a new fuel pump and filter it cranked on the first try. It smoked for about 5 min (and completely destroyed the fan shroud), but after that it ran very smoothly.
