:evil2: ok i have a 89supra n/a auto but i have a problem with my starter i did a jdm n/a swap recently and my starter dosen't even work i got to turn the ignition and all you here is the relay switch going on and off nuthin from the starter at all it like a clikcing noies coming from the passenger side but like i said you can here that relay switch cliking on and off. But heres the wierd thing i went to get the starter tested and it worked as if new and it has 124k on it. all the cabels are hooked up the groundes are were they should go just like on the other block but when i turn the key it won't start.but before i did the swap i was told to tap the starter to losen it off the flywheel because it can get stuck

The reason you "tap" a starter is the contacts are wore down. You are just vibrating it closer.

That kind of sounds like a discharged battery to me. You need much more amperage to turn over the engine that just engage relays, radios, and lights.

Is your neutral safety switch hooked up (or jumped?) ? That little button thing on the clutch pedal hooked up? Also try rocking the key back and forth from off to start fairly quickly, I had to do this w/ my mkIII after it had set awhile (when I got it). Thats really all I can think of. HTH.

Stock alarm may have been tripped. Close your doors and lock then unlock them with the key. That should disable the starter kill.

Also just for the hell of it double check to make sure you battery connectors are tight and not corroded.

I had this problem 2 times now. I'm on my third starter. I just had to hit it a few times with something. Its easier if you have 2 people. One in the car to hold the key to the start position and u to tap the starter. This method works really well. But this may not be the problem but it was for me twice. Good luck.

Damn I have the same thing going on with mine right now... I took the starter out and it tested fine. Put it back in and fixed some wires and it still just goes 'click!':icon_conf

hey man just get a new one its probly your starter silinoid conections... meaning there just wornout or that u just have a high mileage car iv'e cheacked everything even the key ignioneverything on my car was fine and untouched it only has 124k on the car when i bought it but with new jdm engin its 40k so if you have a high milage car u will soon fall to starter problems
