I bought a turbo mk3 a few weeks ago that had a BHG, i did the head gasket, new belts, new seals and also blocked off the EGR. I also made some intercooler hardpipes, put a greddy typr RS BOV, 62-1 CT26, and an HKS PFC F-CON. Now, I went to go and start it and it runs for less than a minute with idle from 400-700 RPM. I removed the F-CON system and had just the stock ECU and still nothing better. Its flashing codes 51 and 14. I checked the resistance in the TPS and its within spec, i have spark. I have Bosch Platinum 2's in it now, Ive heard bad reviews about those, are those my problem? When the car starts up and you try to give even just a little bit of gas, it dies. Could it be a harness issue? The timing belt is set to 0 deg. at the crank pulley. I just put fresh gas in it I am really frustrated right now and cant think straight:3d_frown: , any help would be appreciated.:icon_bigg

It stalls on its own?

Anyway, 14 is the code set when the ignitor is not firing correctly. It may not be the ignitor, but the circuit. You can try a known good ignitor, but they are pretty expensive.

You can check and see how the spark looks based on your symptoms and the 14.

There is also a possibility of 14 and your condition being not related. That does happen. You could have an intake leak, and a broken wire. But try an ignitor first, if you can get your hands on a free one.

There are 2 parts to the TPS, Code 51 can be No idle contacts (IDL and E2) side, Neutral start switch, or the AC on.

*You can not set base timing with a TPS related code 51 present. But it should still start..

Code 41 is the potentiometer or the "position sensor". side of the TPS. (VTA and VC)

Code 14 is "no IGf signal to ECU several times in succession" if this helps at all?? I am not much help here...sorry..

Look at the link in my sig to fix code 51.

The other codes that will halt fuel injection is maybe the AFM signal (not sure what code) and or code 34 or turbo boost pressure also known as fuel cut?

The code 51 will not halt fuel injection. 14 will. As stated, the ECU isnt recieving the signal from the ignitor, no pulsing of the injectors.

Thanks Gary, I was not sure about the AFM signal also?

I guess code 25 or 26 for that but all it says is the injection duration can not be done. That may equal a halt to injection.. :dunno:

Sorry to get OT guys..:)

sorry for the wait, i checked everything last night, now my other code went away but i still have code 51 (probably cause i took out the ac) but it still wont start, everything is timed properly, i took out the FCON and used the stock ecu, and it still wont start, i checked all the wires and they were all within spec, the AFM is good, anyone think it could be injectors? ill check those tonight and get back on this subject.
