hey, so a friend of mine has a 1990 chaser with a 1jz and is having issues with stalling, when the car is warm and we roll up to a light the rpms will drop and the car will stall out... sometimes if he touches the throttle it will kinda rev then stall right away, but it will start up and idle fine... im kinda lost as to what to look for, i had thought about cleaning the IAC but wasnt sure...any suggestions?

Yea I would check the IAC.

It sounds like its stuck closed. or not connected fully.

To help the IAC breath better ditch the long tube that feeds into the intake instead put a mini breather filter on it and plug off the opening after removing the tube that should help your car run 100X better at idle.

To daignose the IAC put your hand over the opening with nothing hooked up on it above idle it should have no air movement at all when you let the car idle you should feel air pull into it.

If no air pulls into the IAC you have issues it might not even be the IAC it might be the idle switch inside the TPS sensor like its out of adjustment or bad

To much load on it like the headlights on pressing the brake using vacume using defroster turning the steering wheel when out of power steering fluid loose alternator belt under drive pulys etc... all put a load on the car why do you think the ECU is wired into the AC and brake lights it tells the IAC to open up more aggresively when it gets these signals.
