Today I was cleaning my car and I usually spray underneath it to get the crud off the bottom to. Well I went to go spray the bottow of the car and noticed that the oil pan had a tiny leak. My oil pressure has been sitting at about 23psi (on stock gauge) when I cruise at 3000rpms. I know thats not good. Could the leak cause pressure drop?

Im also bored 40 over. Could that play a factor as well???

From what i have learned and heard. That for a oil leak to affect your pressure it would have to be such a big leak that all your oil would be gone in Minutes

Well damn, I dont know what the problem with the pressure is then. Its a new oil pump, on a rebuilt engine. I dont know what the problem is.

I dont think its clogged anywhere because that would cause pressure to build right?

Its my dd so I have to keep driving it. But Im worried if I dont get this fixed itll be the end of my car.:aigo:

Time to get a good aftermarket oil pressure guage too get a second opinion so to speak

+1

Also, these cars don't run a whole lot of pressure in the first place.

Are you certain that the pan is leaking? Or, could it have leaked down from somewhere else?

Ill be ordering one very soon.

I dont think its the gauge. When I drive the car after letting it warm up for about 5 min it gets to 30+psi no problem. But when the car is completely warm it only gets to about 23psi.

My stepfather owned an 89 7mgte (swapped 2jz n it) but he says that as long as its between the 20psi and the 40psi I shouldnt worry. I personally think he is wrong, but thats my opinion. :biglaugh:
