i just got an OEM spoiler put on and my brake light doesn't work. i hooked it up and it gets power on the spoiler side of the connector. so i'm thinking the bulb might be blown? i was trying to get the panel underneath the brake light off but i can't seem to get it off. how is this attached? i didn't pry too hard because i didn't want to break an edge off. painter already screwed up and didnt install the two side pieces on correctly and i dont want to screw it up anymore.

thanks

If you have the 3-piece wing then the light is a bunch of LEDs. Not likely that ALL of the LEDs are blown.

Take off the wing and find out if you are even getting power to the connector - use a voltmeter and have someone press the brake pedal.

If you are getting power then your LED bar may be blown.

IF you aren't getting power... well... then I guess you have to track down where the failure is.

depends on what spoiler, pre 89's got a bulb, 89+ turbos and the NA sport package wing got LED's..

if it's an LED spoiler, try switching out your yellow taillight box for a gray one...

I assumed from his tag that he had a 91. Also... from the description it also sounds like the 89+ spoiler and not the earlier ones - the 89+ has no visible attachment for the light.

i found out what the problem was. the painter just cut the insulation off of the wires and wrapped them together then electrical taped them. i guess if you want something done right you have to do it yourself

What the hell was the logic in that? So much extra effort.

Sounds like when I had a new radio installed in my 89. They cut the harness off and had to crimp new ends on each and every wire - instead of using the standard harness to connect the new radio to the older harness.

WTH!?!

i have no idea. the painter also mounted the two side pieces on so that they are sticking out about 1/4" off the back edge of the car. now next year i'm going to have to get that fixed by a different painter (don't really want to drill my own holes)

^^^^so that would explain why the light on the spoiler doesn't light up as bright as the others? is the turbo lamp failure light that box by the drivers tailight right?
