it could be many things. check your codes first. (use the link in my sig)

a code can tell us alot about your problem, if you are actually getting one.

it could very likely be your wires arcing/grounding out somewhere. if they're bad, get new ones regardless of whether or not they are the problem. check your spark plugs too, especially the gap in them. (NEVER trust "pre-gapped" spark plugs)

i never do trust pregaped pulges. i just replaced the plugs about 500 miles ago, give or take. i just cant afford new wires right now thow. there 150 at the local dealer and 75 at auto zone, so if anyone has a good set. that they would sell cheap. let me know
i will check for codes. althow i dont have a check engine light on atall . so i donno. but i will check it thanks for the info....

borrow a timing light. anyone who owns a timing light should be able to help you use it. the only trick with supras is that you can't reach plug number one, so you use plug number 6. That and you need to put the car in diagnostic mode, which is what you do to check for codes. open the check connector marked "diagnostic" and short terminal T to terminal E1. this will lock you timing at its base setting and keep it from jumping around when you check it.

The timing is very easy to check/adjust, the TSRM has a few pages on how to do it. It might also be a good idea to go ahead and buy a timing light, they dont cost much and with an old car like the mk3, it will be a useful tool to have around.

I had the same issue with my 89T. Not like the year has anything to do with it. I put in a set of Bosch platinums and gapped them to .32 after I got everything back together it idled great. When I tried to accelerate around 2100 rpm the car started stumbling. I spent $100 on MSD wires and that didn't fix a thing. I set the timing and that didn't help. I got aggrevated and bought a set of NGK Iridium's pregapped and that solved my problem. It is possible that the plug wires are bad.

Does the car idle ok?

sometimes it idel's okay. sometimes it doesnt. just depends. not when the car is cold, it runs like a bat outa hell until you get it at about 4700 RPM then it falls on its face. but as soon as it gets warm, its done for. nothing, it wont even bark the tires. and that isnt right, befor i could burn tires all the way threw 3rd....please :1zhelp: me if you can. thanks
