Speedometer Cable not plugged in to tranny right...

my speedometer worked before i got my new clutch. Now after i replaced it, My speedometer doesn't work. I've pulled it out of the tranny several times trying to fix it and plug it in right...How do you plug it in the tranny properly? I unbolted it and pulled it out and i screwed it turned it several times thinking it was going to tighten.....Still didn't work....HOW IN THE HECK DO U PLUG IT BACK IN? also maybe the cable is broken...how can i check?

pull it out of the transmission, hook a cordless drill up to the cable and spin. See if the gauge moves.

If not, broken cable. If so, something is goofy inside transmission.

It should slide in and then the nut should thread on. If the thread is on then it's possible your speedometer cable broke.
