"Speed Density" over "Blow Through" using MAFT-Pro???

Just a little curious which is a better setup to run using the MAFT-Pro unit. I bought a GM MAF (2001 Chevy Malibu) to use with my new setup and already installed it. After reading the literature supplied with the MAFT-Pro it appears that I don't even need the MAF if I am planning on running the "speed density" setup. The MAF apparently is only used during the "blow through" style of monitoring.

For those of you using the MAFT-Pro what do all you guys think about the pros and cons of running speed density over blow through or other modes????

speed density gets rid of the AFM altogether. it's the way to go in my opinion. i'm running the MAFTpro in speed/density, and my car has never run so well. (going from the lex/550 to maftpro)

you'll never have AFM trouble again with speed/density. (and a more free flowing intake)

Yeah, I understand that part now (no AFM) and that was after I went junkyarding and spent $40 on a MAF from a Chevy Malibu. I am just trying to find out what the pros and cons are.

Do you have to do anything with the wire plug that used to go to the stock AFM, such as jumper it out or just tape it up and leave it hanging? I'm still wiring my MAFT in and haven't had a chance to see if I have any codes yet.

What about the reliability of the speed/density method? The MAP sensor or the MAFT unit itself could malfuntion or outright quit... What would happen in that situation? Could the stock ecu take over to a point? If only certain aspects of the pressure metering failed, is it possible to run extremely lean and detonate the crap out of your engine? Those are the things i wonder about.... a GM maf seems safer.. but still offers the potential for complete catastrophic failure...

I personally have no experience with eitehr of the MAFT systems, or any map based systems... but i would like to know which method would be more reliable... and if the only advantage of going speed/density is "removing the afm." Because simply trelling me i can remove a part makes me think "woop de do.. but does it work better... or should i just keep that part"

in speed-density the car will not run with out the input from the MAP. all spped-density is a formula based on engine size, air temp , imcoming pressure, etc..

on a NORMAL vehicle a MAF based system is always going to be more accurate, since they measure incoming air down to grams per second.

that is why on most car the MAP system is Secondary and used as a back-up.

the other side is a speed-density sytstem is still accurate a reliable.. GM MAP sensor are dirt cheap and are not prone to failure.

also if your running speed-denisty and you blow off and IC pipe the car is still driveablity, just can't boost. with a MAF the car will die.

once you cover to speed-density the ECU will need that input from the MAP.

i remember making a hih way pull showing my friend my car for the first time, a bmw was along side and showed intrest in racing, i stomped on it, and started pulling, then seemed to loose alo of power, and when i let off, i didn't hear my blow off valve, i drove 3 miles to the next exit, since temp, oil pressure and charge were fine, and i poped my hood curious to what i might find, looked around a bit and didn;t see any thing,

took alot at all my pipes and connections and found i blew my pipe off from the throttle bodie, if i was running any thing else other then a map sesor w/ maft pro, i would have been stuck on the free way till i figured it out,
in fact i was able to limp her to the parts store to buy another coupler to fix my problem.. sure beats the hell out of walking on a hot day...

no looking back here..
