Let me know if there are any other changes that I've missed. Hopefully this can get moved to the FAQ forum as well.

True, but that's not really good enough, lol.

I know it was there, almost all the 88T's I've seen have ABS as well, including mine, but I know for a fact it was an option.

What I need is someone with a 91 who doesn't have ABS to post. :), or I need info backing up that it was standard from a magazine or Toyota.

Doesn't really matter that much, but I don't want to change it unless I'm sure. For a long time I was told it was made standard in 89, which I know is not true.

I think that ABS was offered as an option beginning in 88. I can't remember if it was adopted as standard at 90 or 91. My 90 has ABS on it.

I'm almost 100% sure I've seen an 86.5 with ABS, and I know for sure there was 87 cars with ABS.

Ok Jeff, think I got something this time. I'm really board and needed something to occupy the hours. So I decided to enlist the almighty power of Google. Here is what I found:

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?modelid=2732&trimid=-1&src=VIP&tab=2&sub=0

If you scroll most of the way down the page under safety, it lists ABS as standard on the 1991 turbo. But on the 1990 turbo the ABS is listed as optional, as seen here.

http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/Spec_Glance.aspx?modelid=2719&trimid=-1&src=VIP&tab=2&sub=0

MSN auto is a reliable site as they get there info directly from the manufacture. So how does that work for you.

On another note (unrelated to ABS), didn't some component on the sway bars change from rubber to metal in 89? The endlinks and the bushing brackets come to mind, but I can't verify because the post is on SF which is down for the next two days.

The end links changed from metal to plastic in 88, dunno if that's what you're talking about.

My front endlinks are metal, and my back ones are plastic. 89T (square motor mounts).

My 1988 Turbo 5 speed targa does have TEMS and does not have ABS. I thought that any car with the TEMS option came with ABS until I bought this car. I figured it was a traction control package of some kind.

I actually enjoy the knuckle room by the turbo and not having the pedal tap my foot :) I would have ordered this car exactly how it came. I'm happy with every option that it does and doesn't have.

Also, just out of curiousity, what was in place of the coin holder on the left side of the dash pre-1988? Was there always a coin holder?
