I know there are threads about this already but I haven't found one that would really help my situation. I have a stock 7mgte with a clutch that is starting to slip, so I am looking to replace it with something stronger than stock but not crazy strong or harsh I am looking at a stage 2 type of clutch from Spec or 6 puck ACT clutch. I've read countless threads and it seems that ACT takes the cake for our cars but once again those were like JZ swapped or 400+hp Mk3s, so it doesn't really help me lol. So, Spec stage 2 or 2+ clutch vs whatever ACT has that isn't harsh on the leg and such, I've only seen a 6 puck clutch from ACT.

Stock 7MGTE? Stay OEM. Smoothest ride and strong enough for a stocker.
I went with a Spec 2+ clutch but that was after upping the injectors to 550 and putting on a 57 Trim CT26. No idea what it is like yet because there is too much snow to drive my car up this far north...

Either stage 2 will work well, but really, if you're staying stock, or even near stock, then that will be the least expensive, and plenty strong enough.

I like the ACT clutches, but I was looking for a stage 3/3+ since I'd burned a stage 2 out.

I love my ACT xtreme clutch. The heavier clutch pressure did take some getting used to, but I even have a bad left ankle, and can put it down all day just fine.

ACT does make a full face clutch it is the ACT HD as seen here. http://store.driftmotion.com/static/i-ts2-hdss.php
I would go with that if you want a good upgrade that will hold up to some power. Or stick with a stock clutch with a new disc. They can hold up to some decent power for a while. I ran my stocker with my 550's LEX AFM, and boost controller, with 57 trim turbo. This was all on a stock clutch with 76,xxx miles.

Dont bother. People worry about weight when they are trying to eek out 100th's of a second. Your gonna overthink your car and end up spending money for nothing....

Best plan for your car is to fix the clutch OEM-style. Enjoy the car. Then...if you are interested in setting up a BPU type build... then plan it out completely!
Dont do things until you have finished that. You can run a stock OEM clutch with a BPU 350-400 HP without much worry on the street. Its the most comfortable although... sometimes its actually not cheaper.. lol.

I did a whole whack of bunny hops on my build without wanting to do it that way over the past 4 years and could have saved myself a lot of headache and time by just planning.. saving... and doing all at once. I will have a car I am happy with after spending too much on it, but it wont be what I originally wanted because my plan went astray after I got hit with reality on what I had compared to what I was told I had.

Dm says the stock clutch can handle about 350hp so it seems like I'll go it's also cheaper. Like I said I don't plan on swapping motors for a long time

Excuse my typos I was posting from my phone at the bar last night lol. So I guess I will be going with a stock kit and replacing the flywheel and pressure plate bolts as well and resurface the flywheel.

I know you know this, but be sure the shop cuts the backstep back into the flywheel.
If they forget to, and just cut the surface smooth, you'd lose alot of clamp force.

Stock def go oem.. even if you plan on doing light mods with the stock turbo oem can take it and will last the longest if not neglected. If you plan on doing some moderate mods i had a stock pressure plate and act 6 puck last 5+ years at over 400whp
