Spec clutch problems

I bought one a while back, worked well, it would slip every once in a while if the turbo was still spooled after a shift. I hit a big pothole one day and it broke 3 days later. The guidepins on the diaphragm (pressure plate) broke, all of them. Then one of the metal straps broke and the diaphragm got off center and the car started shaking like hell.

Got it replaced free, and I did the install. This one doesnt grab as good as the first. Now its vibrating again. :nono:
And my car has NO shakes at all normally.

Has anyone else had problems with these clutches????????

Its pissing me off, when I get through with all this I will have as much in this shit as a push type twin plate. I'm trying to get a break from them but I'm tired of pulling out my trans and a clutch install is $250 plus they want $150 to upgrade to a stage 3+.

I have a spec 3 also. Once I actually start driving it (next week?) we'll see how it does. The PP is a toyota plate, dont know if it was modified or not though. Clutch feels the same.

Just got my Spec stage 3 clutch kit installed after I was having some problems with the 2+. The stage 3 works great. No problems yet.

not to threadjack... but how is that clutch working out for you... my RPS StgIII is supposed to be pretty comparable to the spec III but I also put on a 3200lb PP...

Yep, 1000 miles of easy driving. No power shifts, no abuse. I dont know if any of you have seen the final verdict. After I took the last shaking clutch to get fixed. The shop said that they would put in a good pressure plate, but they reused the old shaky one (hand tool resurfaced:aigo: ) and told me that the shaking was not the clutch. I drove it and got it broken in and it just broke on me one night driving over to a friends business. Took it back up there and they put in a new clutch assembly and told me that they found the vibration problem. Wouldnt tell me over the phone. Went up there and the Harmonic balancer bolt was broken. :aigo: :aigo: :aigo: :aigo: :1zhelp: :icon_conf :3d_frown: :nono: :icon_mad: :icon_mad: :icon_surp :icon_surp

the same thing actually happened to me. one of the straps broke. it was after a hard first gear pull. revved to 6500 and then pulled out couldnt go into any gears, try and start the car and the car jumped. the plate was stuck to the flywheel. they replaced it for free, just had to buy a new flywheel surface. have yet to drive the car again.

Here are my pictures.
And yes they put in a new oil seal for the trans input. But they reused a previously damaged pressure plate that they said they "checked out".:nono:
If you look closely, you can see tool marks from a hand tool that they used to resurface the pressure plate.

wow that is worse than mine, the only reason im sticking with it is because they gave me a new one for free. if this happens again ill be going with an ACT or HPF feramic. those are signs that the it could be going

I'll tell you right now. TAKE THAT P.O.S. OUT OF YOUR CAR!

I have had three of these do the same thing to me and now my engine is ruined because of it. Its not worth it, spend the money and at least buy an ACT pressure plate to use with that disk. Better yet get the HPF kit.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can beat even that deal. By buying a clutch that wont break and cause you to lose installation money and time or in the extreme case (mine), an engine.
