SPEC 1JZ flywheels

I just got off the phone with SPEC and they are interested in making a 1jz-gte lightweight flywheel. I do not have pricing yet, but it will cost much less than JUN and take much less time to get (for reference, the 7m-gte flywheel retails for $399). The downside is that they need a minimum order of 10 to justify making it.

From what material will this be made? I'd want one that was lighter than stock, but I'm not too hot after an alluminum unit..

935motorsports advertises a 1jz flywheel from SPEC. I have had mine on order for over two months and it looks like it will not be ready anytime soon. SPEC indicates that it does not do the machining onsite and like ma71supraturbo said they require a minimum order of 10. I contacted Fidanza and is this by coincidence also they require a minimum order of dare I say it 10. I suspect that the SPEC units are made by Fidanza. I think that i will go and order a stock steel unit and have it machined down. I would love to get the replaceable surface but I can not wait the time necessary.

Fidanza has a part number for the 93-98 MKIV SUPRA 2JZ-GE, since that combo came with the W58 transmission would it work with our 1JZ with the R154? The part number from Fidanza is 130991 and it is 12.5 lbs I have seen these for about $380

Drunk Medic -- SPEC flywheels are alluminum with a carbon-steel (replaceable) insert where the clutch pad material meets the flywheel. If you want a chromoly one due to serious drag use/abuse get the JUN, but the SPEC/Fidanza flywheels work very well for most people.

Toyohabu, SPEC does seem to copy or use Fidanza flywheels -- however they do have some applications that fidanza does not, so who knows. Once the GB goes through, they will be able to make them on a single-order basis like the 7m flywheel...
