Spark Plugs

I've been looking at all the types of spark plugs, and looking at all the different opinions of people on which type to buy.

Are there great differences between the $2 and the $8 spark plugs?

Whats the difference between normal, platinum, iridium, and is it a big difference?

I've looked around the internets but can't a good opinion that is backed up by any facts, just people saying that "my engine runs so much better with (x) spark plugs"

Thanks for the replies

i run copper ngk v power in my 2j, heat range 7. they are cheap ($1.80 each). i replace my plugs once a month and gap to .28

use to run ngk iridium till someone local to me blew their motor cuz the tip melted and fell into the chamber and blew a hole through his piston.
