I know what he's talking about. Toyota calls it "Valve cover gasket #3". I changed mine along with the cam cover gaskets. lol the bolts all worked themselves loose and I still get a shit load of oil in the spark plug valley.

You don't have to use Valve Cover Gasket #3, if you don't want to. Use a high temp teflon sealant and apply to the threads on the hex bolts. I would recommend to let it dry overnight. So far, 2 years and my valley is nice and clean. As for the philips screw, replace them with the same length allen type screw with new washers, or purchase a set from Driftmotion.

Other people also uses, washers from NAPA to seal the Hex valley screws.

When i changed all my valve cover gaskets I also got the 5mm hex bolt kit from Twos R Us. (they sell a kit for the 7m and the 3sgte in my old man's mr2). The bolts on his car have stayed nice and tight. Mine came loose after a while. I could turn most of them by hand. It's like the 7m doesn't want to stay together lol.

the valve cover gasket bolts will loosen up a lot of the time. i used a very very small amount of low strength loc-tite and it stopped them from loosening up.( they loosened up with new toyota bolts). also i used teflon tape for the 14mm hex bolts where the no.3 valve cover gasket is. some high temp silicone will work too but you dont need gobs of it to where it squishes out 1/4-1/2 in. napa also sells a o ring that works too and if you search yo can find the p/n.
