Hey you all, I just Noticed something Yesterday and I thought that I would ask around and see if anyone has ran into this Same Problem.

I bought a Set of NGK Iridiums about a year ago, Now after all the Problems that Ive had having to tear the engine back down due to Broken Ring lands (Like 4 of them), I thought about using the same Spark Plugs since they cost like $11 each. Well, I look at the Gap and they Kinds looked a little big so I go online and check....

7MGE Spark Plug Gap setting is .44
7MGTE Gap setting is .32

Went back outside and checked them... All of them were .44 hince Parts store giving me the Incorrect Plugs
What Harm would this cause to a Engine if Infact there are High Amounts of Boost running? Could this be another reason I had to tear my motor back apart?

Plug gap should not break piston ring lands...detontation will though. High boost, lean AFR, low octane gas all can cause detonation. Running a wideband O2 will help you see what's going on with AFR's.

An oversize plug gap will cause the spark to blow out under boost and cause a high RPM miss.

Just as drjonez said, gap new plugs to spec every time. Do not trust the manufacturer to have these plugs gapped for our cars as some spark plugs are made for other cars also.

I bought iridiums from Nopi last year...
None were gapped correctly and one had a the iridium peice in the box rolling around....

I always ran the NGK platinums in my supras and I have to say the iridiums were a massive pain in the rear. Make sure you use the correct gapping tool I had to send a pic to the CSR to get my plus replaced as they said I had used the wrong gapping tool... I used feeler guages and needle noses. I had to be VERY careful gapping as the spare I ordered was missing that piece.

The car runs the same with iridiums as it did with NGK platinums...

Just dont ever put bosch plugs in your car they such massive tail.

I put those bosch platinum 4's in and old car of mine one time, will never buy bosch again. Their design is pretty wack. If you've ever looked at one of the 4 series theres very little room for fuel to get close to the spark, too much in the way.

I'm running full stock for now, so no damage to the engine and it wont be worse then stock heat range? (i dont care to much about plugs)

P.S. That's my DD and i dont do racing, just ocasional boosting...

I come from a land down under
As I said they may be more prone to overheating in day to day driving if the motors breathing hard, when this happens it'll just run like a sack of crap miss at idle and be hard to start.
