Spare transmission won't go into any gears, stuck in third.

I bought an R154 from a member here a while ago... and it was going to be installed last week into another member's car. Anyhow, they went to check out the tranny before installation and it is stuck in neutral. The stick won't shift into any gears but the weird thing is that the tranny itself is stuck in 3rd.

Anyone have this problem before?

I think the shift interlock is locked up some how. Usually, you have to take it apart and reassemble it wrong to get that way.

put oil in it and turn it by hand and let it sit then repeat. It may just be siezed from sitting to long

Take the shifter out. Make sure its sitting in the shifter ball.

Then how do you know it's stuck in third?

Try this: Mount a shifter back in correctly and use the leverage from that to see if it moves outa 3rd .

This happened to a used one I had what happens is people store these upright and it slips into gear I had mine installed before noticing the problem I had to split mine apart and disengage by hand not to difficult just follow the TSRM

Then how do you know it's stuck in third?

You can look in the shifter hole and tell exactly what gear it's in :icon_wink
