Does anyone know were, besides Sound performance, I can get a repair kit for this turbo? Mine just crapped out on me (seals are leaking) and I was thinking that maybe I can just repair it myself to save on the down time of my car.

Thanks for any help.

If you want to get the SP61GT rebuilt, let a pro do it. If you no longer trust
SP to do it right, shoot me an email, and I'll get you a good discount on the
rebuild at MDC. ALSO Since Jon is doing the Ball bearing upgrades now, I can
get you a discount on that too. (which would help the lazy SP61GT spool up
sooner)

I guess you guys are right and C.44 thanks for the input. It's not that I don't trust SP to do the repair, in fact I was pleased with their service the first time I delt with them. I purchased this turbo from APP motorsports, shortly after the shaft broke in half. I tried to contact APP but they never responded, got a hold of Larry at SP and he was more than pleased to honor the warranty (Kudos to them.) The down side to the whole thing was the fact that it took almost two months to get the turbo back from them. This time around I have not heard any reply to any of my emails to them. I just rebuilt my motor to install eagle rods and I just don't think I can wait another two months to drive it. Anyhow, thanks for the input and Jeff I will shoot you an email.

I fully agree on SP being "quite" hard to get anything done from soon. I'm not going into that. If the conversion to dbb isn't too expensive i'd have that done too... you'd have a SP61GT DBB sooner then SP themselves :D

MkIIINA, that's nice to know but no one is responding to my emails and the time difference just makes it that much harder to call.

Jon, I got your email and one from Jeff as well, the next time you speak to him ask him about it. Thanks for the information and I will be contacting you soon.

For now I'll send one more email to SP and give it a week.

The centersections aren't in his hands either afaik. And a circus it is indeed. I've had contact with Tim before... but the replytimes itself is a horrorstory... the last 2 pms are about a month and 2 months ago... merely a request for a status update and a request for more info on the regular vs. dbb version... both unanswered. That pissed me off and made me look into other resellers... such as HPF. I realise they have to get the turbo from sp too but i rather deal with hpf then waiting on Tim to reply to my pm's.

For the record, I have nothing against SP. I just feel that it is difficult to reach them. Emails for me are the easiest way to contact anyone. Like I said before, the time difference from Guam to the states makes it worse. Just to give you a clue, if it were 12 noon on a Monday in Chicago, it is 4am here in Guam TUESDAY. Now if you have a website to promote your business and you have an email link on that site, I just feel it makes good business sense to stay on top of the emails after all you've increased you target audience (POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS) from your local area to the whole world. Just my 2 cents. So once again, I have nothing against SP it is just hard to reach them.

/\ agreed but if you call theres no problem getting a hold of tim. wosrt thing i have had so far is he was on the dyno or out at the machine shop. i talked to tim in the later part of this last week and he once again said that this is why he hasnt taken downpayments on the new turbos as the time table is outside his control for getting parts in. also he is fixing things as they go along to better imporve the turbos. look at the boss550 and how long it took to get out and you can begin to understand what hes dealing with (the boss turbo was in development for over 2 years, i held the first exhaust housing at 2k4 and it didnt come out until late 2k5) patience guys! it will be worth it.
