Hello all, as the name states, my name is Merlyn
I have been on a quest since my 2nd car to find a car that gave me what I wanted, uniqueness, rarity, speed, and style...
I currently own an 02 Nissan Maxima with the entire breathing package, I/H/E, an 04 Maxima (6th gen vs my 5.5 Gen) Transmission with HLSD (Better gearing / Final Drive). Before that I owned a 1993 Ford Probe GT.
I have my own taste in cars, and can honestly say, always looked down on Supra's, always said, highly overpriced cars that can easily become fast... but then I came across a link on a site for a guy selling an MK3. I had never seen this style of Supra. Now... back to my original qualities...
Uniqueness - The MK3 is Unique, it is a supra, as anyone would call, but has great potential. You for one don't see many supra's out there, but the standard (And forgive me as I always looked away at Supras, so don't know the Gens (the most common, later 90's model) Supra is too common for a rare car, sorta like the 240sx, yes hard to come by, but expensive for what it is.
Rarity - Supras are rare, at least a good deal on a supra is rare to find. I found like stated, an MK3 NA for $500 in good shape (favorite color, black and manual).
Speed - Must I explain?
Style - I love the MK3 style, it is similar to the probe (front end, fliptop lights). Yet follows an old Foxbody rear (Fan of the foxbody). All in all, the car that I frowned upon everytime I saw it is now a car that I have come to think about all day, as I wait for the day I pick it up.
The car is not mine yet, but plans consist of following this simple idea
Fix the body up and interior as the interior is shot, the exterior paint looks great for a 20 year old car, but some rust spots need to be taken care of.
Drop either 1JZ, 2JZ, 7MGE or 7MGTE in it.
It has the 7MGE In it, and debating going with a 7MGE (Can get one for $500~) and getting the stock 7MGTE Manifolds / Turbo and push that to higher numbers then the 7MGTE. Also just thinking of going all out and getting the 1 - 2JZ and get that 300+ number out of the car. All in all, Just want to see Hello :-D and I hope that I can find the answers and recommendations to what to do for the best tuner supra. Money is not an issue, yes, I don't have a lot, but I would rather spend more and gain / save later then spendless
ex - Transmission in Maxima + Clutch / Flywheel was $3500~ (Tranny Died, got a brand new transmission from Nissan and SPEC Stage 2 + Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel).
Headers for my car cost me $950 for SS, however I could have gotten Ceramic Coated for $300 (Hotshot went out of business sale), however the Cattman headers are designed for Maxima's, and Nissan VQ3x cars, and they do not work on any other makes.
All in all, no matter how out there or expensive it may be, I like to get all the options on the table and I can weight the pros and cons to each option.
Now this post is way too long so I am going to end it, but any opinions or recommendations will be taken with the highest thank you..
btw...
Should be mine soon :-D
