Okay there must be somone in here that knows what the timing is suppose to be set to stock? Mine is reading on the 10 degree marker on the crank. So for example going to 15 would be advancing and like 5 would be retarding right? Is 10 the stock setting?

yes i think that is correct if your jumper is installed when you check it..

and assuming the timing mark is at 0' on tdc on the balencer..

I went to adjust but when the idle would go up or down slightly depending on if the electric fan was pulling juice or not the setting would change!! Whats the rpm your suppose to set it at?

Figgie, when I checked the Tsrm, it actually says "7mgte Above 12 deg BTDC"
That's the 87 hardcopy at home, did it change to 10 in later years?

Nope, it was always 10. It is supposed to advance to 12 or a little better once you remove the jumper.

you wear one when you are cold. Can be made of man made fibers or natural.woollen jumpers are quite nice and fashionable, comes in different neck types too,Vee,turtle just to name a few.Cardigans are not, unless you are over 60yrs old and drive a volvo.

just get some wire, paperclip, anything that can have conductivity from one end to the other and jam one end into the T and the other end in E1

Remember, the timing can only be set if the TPS is adjusted properly. It doesn't quite make it clear enough in the TSRM. Set the E1-T1 jumper and watch the check engine light in the dash.

If you get code 51, fix or adjust the TPS first, otherwise the ECU will not hold the timing steady, and you'll be running quite retarded if you attempt to adjust it.
