So some of you might have seen my post asking about the Racing Hart CR's and if anyone had a picture of them on an MKIII. Well I went yesterday to test fit them on my car, got them mounted, cleared the AP racing calipers no problem, looked friggin awesome on the car, so I bought them on the spot with brand new Yokohama Parada Spec II's rubber (still had the stickers on).
So all is well and good and I'm driving home and get on the highway and in less than 3-4 miles I get this terrible sound coming from the wheels... :aigo:
So I pull off as soon as I can, get out, and what do I find.....
THREE of the four tires were TOAST!!! It was as iff they all lost all tire pressure and I rolled on them till they split. The front two had total tread separation. One of the rears was totally flat, but didn't have any visual damage. They were all aired up when I left.
So WTF happened here?????
Could they tired have been "old stock" or something, they looked brand friggin new, didn't look old or cracked or anything, they looked perfect. The ONLY thing I can think of was they rolled on the edge of the rim and lost pressure or something, perhaps they were the wrong size tires for the rims I don't know....
Thank god the guy who sold them to me was ultra cool and after I called him, he came out with a jack and my old tires (I left them with him to pick up another day) and we changed all 4 on the side of the road and he gave me my check back. He is going to have them remounted with Bridgestone Pole Position S-02's and will give them to me for the same price.
So if anyone can figure out WTF might have happened please let me know, because that was the most fucked up thing I have ever seen in my life.
Also, I'm now worried about possible bends in the rims cause the rolled w/o tire pressure at highway speeds. I turned them all while jacked upu and the "looked" straight, but how would I know for sure?
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas lemme know, because its been killing me to figure wtf happened. I should have taken pics but I was too pissed/freaked out to get out to three blown BRAND NEW tires to take them.
sorry for the length.
Here is the ebay link so you can see the tire sizes on the rims, perhaps wrong size for rim?? They looked perfect.
