I was goin through some of my pictures and found these. They're from when I fixed my driveshaft, I had to move my dad's play toy out of the garage so I could use it. 2006 Pontiac Solstice. I've only gotten to drive it one time and it was around town, but it was a fun car to drive. It got a LOT of looks, haha. Still has less than 500 miles on it too.

Personally I think the car looks a little silly, but I've never liked the look of that thing. Have fun with it though.
Permanant convertible?

Hah, it's not mine. It's my dad's, he hardly ever drives it though, but he loves everything about it.

I think there might be a hardtop, or one is in developement, you can buy for it like the one for the S2000. I know that pontiac is replacing the GTO as their car for D1 with one of these and it's got a hardtop.

Supercharged...god I can't remember the trim level...I'll see if I can find the info.

Edit: Scratch that, turbo...could've sworn before they made it they said supercharged, but whatever. And it's Formula D, not D1...but I'm pretty sure it'll make an appearance at D1. GXP was the trim, hah. Here's the an article and pics of it: Formula D Solstice

I read in a SCC that the frame for the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky will accept an LS1 (or 6) with ease and a future car powered by a v-8 will be based on these. Pretty sick.

Yeah, my I brought that up to my dad when I originally heard about it and he was like "man...I wish I had waited...but maybe I'll just do an engine swap!"

Haha, after I convinced him to go to HIN Orlando, he's gotten more into the "tuner" scene. He was hardcore muscle cars back when he was younger...I guess not so much anymore :naughty:

Turbo??
:puke:turbo

I've driven my dad's supercharged Bonneville, and my Turbo Supra.

Superchargers FTW. Hands down. Much more responsive, no lag, etc. A lot more fun for DD.

I hope GM Super's this and not Turbo's. Besides, a turbo seems like it belongs on a foreign car, and a super on American. I don't know why, it just seems like it to me :)

Love the car, Derk. Nice.

Lol, yeah it through me for a loop too. The new Cobalt SS's (wow...is this SS'...or SS's??) are supercharged...so I don't understand why they decided to go turbo on these...

But I guess now GM owners have all three options for the Ecotec.

Turbo's >> Superchargers. I'd take the more overall HP and better topend.

Yeah, it depends on your application.

For high speed racing, yeah, turbos are better cuz they don't "rob" the engine of power.

But for around the town as a DD (like both of the cars I mentioned) the Super is more fun cuz you have instant response.

But to me, I still say turbos for foreign, supers for American.
For no particular reason :)

Nah, in Florida they're not really overpriced. He picked it up for about MSRP, $20,000ish and it was the last one on the lot. But he has to fly out to California every few weeks, and he stopped by a dealer out there and said one of the salesmen told him that the Solstice was goin for like 26-27 grand out there...maybe even more than that depending on the location of the dealer.
