So, I'm working on joining the Holset Mafia... (Holset HX35)

I picked up this HX35 from a friend at work who decided to go bigger on his Cummins diesel.

It has a powder coated compressor housing, absolutely ZERO shaft play, new seals, and he had it rebalanced shortly before he sold it to me cheap! Let's just say he made me an offer I couldn't refuse...

On to my question... While I was cleaning up the exhaust housing so I could get the wastegate flapper welded shut, I noticed that the V-band outlet on the housing was some oddball size... The OD of the V-band is close to 3", but the ID is something weird.

Are there aftermarket or stock HX35 12cm or 14cm exhaust housings that have a 3" ID V-band already on it, or should I just have one welded onto this one? In a perfect world, I'd like to find a 12cm or 14cm housing with no internal wastegate, a 3" V-band outlet and a T4 footprint so I wouldn't need an adapter plate.

I've found things like this:

http://www.ahwooga.com/detail.asp?id=82529&n=New-Holset-Cummins-Exhaust-Housing-3519355

But, I have no way of knowing if that fits the HX35. I'm guessing not because the V-band outlet is 5" in diameter.

Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Looks like a typical 3" vband flange to me?

But isn't a 3" V-band supposed to be 3" on the inside, not the outside? By that I mean, isn't the hole itself supposed to be 3"? Or do all 3" V-bands take that 3" measurement from the outside of the v-band flange? I just want to make sure I can find another v-band flange for when I fab-up a downpipe.

I have also been trying to find information on how to get a non gated housing for a Holset.
I think these will fit your turbo.

Yeah, I bet those will fit! Thanks! I'm guessing it still has a T3 flange, but that's alright. I'll shoot them an email and ask what size that v-band outlet is, oddball stock or 3".

Yea its an odd ball size, I have the same turbo, and I got real creative with a solution. I ground down the lip of the v-band flange until it was just the right size to fit inside a normal 3" v-band weld fitting. Like this:

I then pressed the fitting it onto the turbo and welded the seam.

Outstanding. Are you running the 12cm housing? Any other thoughts on your HX35?

Yea I am not sure on the exact size but it looks to be the same one as in your photo. Off a dodge cummins diesel. So far I love this turbo. Huge difference in response from the old T04B with a t4 housing i had. The holset seems to go from no boost to 15psi like instantly, whereas my old one was like a gradual climb. I love the feeling of it. Also It makes my car sound like a freaking semi truck. :)
