i realized today at the Supra meet in Corvallis that i love mountain runs or twisties whatever you want to call them. But the Supra doesnt like them so much, im good with the power that i have now but i need cooling and suspension pieces, i want people to add to the list if all you were building was a car for mountain runs.

Electric Fans
Bigger oil cooler
larger sway bars
rear strut bar

Already have:
Lowering springs
Tockicos
front strut bar
tranny cooler
decent tires
weight reduction
Intercooler kit(in the next few weeks)

theres always little things that you can get a four point rear strut bar, four point front strut brace, possibly a stiffer strut/ spring comination...hmm I feel like I'm forgeting something..

Large oil pans for the 7m are a rare beast.

I do make the bars, but not untill summer / spring.
i dont remeber but i think doctor jones makes a better pickup one, so its as close as you're going to get...

Stay FAR away from the electric fans! The 2hp savings isn't worth the risks.

I can't say I realy agree with this. I have a dual electric fan setup and have never had a problem with it. I have always ran nothing but electric fans and have never had a single trouble out of them.

Less weight too! I run my GA70H all the time up in the mountains. Less weight is always a good thing when it comes to mountain runs.

Electric fans cool pretty well in lower RPMs, but fall under the stocker's performance in higher RPMs. You do know you can run one electric fan along with the stocker, right? I'm putting mine in between the IC and radiator, pull type fan FTW!

Electric Fans - Mine work well, but I also live in Phoenix where the more constant flow is more important...especially in city driving. Downside is if the fans or the fan controller fails...stops you dead in your tracks. I have one of my FAL dual fans wired to the old aux fan wiring, the other is wired to the controller...that way I will have air flow in case of a failure.

At highway speed, you are getting the flow across the radiator you need from the air flow generated by the speed of the car. The stock turbo version fan is quite good...in autocross driving it is superior to dual electrics.

If you want to improve cooling, increase system capacity with a dual core radiator. If you do that, you will need a tranny cooler for your auto. BTW, you should already have dual electric aux fans on an '89

Bigger oil cooler - since getting a bigger oil pan is hard to do, this is a good idea. Get an oil thermostat to control flow into the cooler. If you can't mount it in the car air flow, Spal makes fans you can mount to the cooler to help that problem.

Larger sway bars - one of the best upgrades to improve handling there is IMO. Be careful using the stiffer setting hole on some rear sway bars...the sway bar links are plastic on the rear. The reason for that is the link mount is also weeks...using the adjustable type metal links can snap the mounting tab off.

Rear strut bar - not a huge impact, but does improve chassis stiffness.

MDC's input for seats and a harness is also a good idea ;)

You always lose energy when converting from one type to another. Going from mechanical to electrical and then back to mechanical is going to cost you more energy than sticking with mechanical.

Except when they're off, electric fans are NOT a way to take load off the engine. So why go to them if you have a good clutch setup. There is no reason, unless you need the room, or you have a transverse setup.

In the Supra, stick with a clutch fan, IMO.
