well, i've decided to change my plans up a bit. origionally, i was going to make the bodywork come last on the car, as it's in pretty rough shape, and i'm powerhungry. but, i already have new front fenders, bumper cover, lip, mudflaps, doors, and all excellent condition moldings. if i can get my garage cleaned out before spring, i'd like to have the car ready for paint by spring/summer. all black, with black moldings, my lights blacked out, my mkiv TT rims on, which are gunmetal, and soon to have a polished lip.

i've got one of the replica hatch visors, and on monday i'm sending payment for the ultra-rare 87-88 front blinker cover, which looks wicked, in my opinion. the only things left for the exterior that i'll be looking for in the near future are: 89+ tails, and mirrors. after that, comes bodywork and paint, as well as some tint. (not too dark)

i've also decided to sell my new-in-box SAFC 2, and my LEXUS AFM, but that will come soon. (keep an eye out in the FS section in a few months, maybe earlier for the SAFC, as well as the greddy wideband)

i'm going MAFT pro. i've already decided. i've been following the developmental work, and i really like the direction it's headed, so i'll definately be picking one up. most likely right after my turbo uprade.

here's my current mod list:

1986.5 chassis, still on the w58 with my own custom SOGI short shift rethreaded for stock knob, '89 7MGTE, Clutchmasters Stage III, Fidanza Lighweight Flywheel, Lexus AFM, RC 550cc Injectors, Boost Reference Aeromotive Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator with Fuel Pressure gauge and stainless steel braided lines, pulsatoin damper removal kit and j-tube bypass, Walbro 255 Fuel Pump, Megan Racing Boost Gauge, Becauseican Divorced Wastegate Downpipe, 3" RS*R Concept Cat-back with resonator removed, Cometic 1.4mm MHG, ARP Headstuds, 1mm Oversized Valves, Dr. Jonez Manual Boost Controller @ 15psi, Eibach Pro Kit, Koni Yellows, Upper Hardpipe/BOV, B&M 11x8 oil cooler, B&M 180* thermostat, oilfilter relocation kit, Greddy oil catch can. 3400lbs with driver ;) *not installed yet...* - MKIV TT rims, SAFC-II, Greddy WB o2 gauge.

i still havent dyno'd the car, although i'm anxious to find out what power level i'm at. i can only guestimate it's around 300whp or so, but then again, i wont know for sure until i get it dyno'd.

as for how long this will all take, i'm hoping to be done with the exterior work (including the NSX popup headlight project) by late spring/early summer, and to have the MAFT pro up and running with a wb o2 sensor by mid-summer, right after the 60 trim CT upgrade. i guess i'll finally have the looks to back up the power... i guess this thread is really just to motivate myself, and once i get ahold of my girlfriend's camera, i'll take some pics of the car, so you can all see how terrible it looks, haha.

then you can fully appreciate the after pics. :naughty:

yes, of course. the exterior looks like crap right now. i've got holes in the front fenders, the mudflaps are clinging on for dear life, and i have rust holes in my doors. the molding is missing in two spots, and broken in another, the paint is ridiculously faded from black to a strange grayish black, and there's bubbling over the rear fenderwells. :)

Shaeff, my car wansnt anywhere near that bad, but it sounds like your going to have take the same approach as I did this winter. I stripped everything out of the entire car and started making everything new again. Cleaned out all the vents and dust from under the panels and carpet. After I took off all the body panels to clean everything behind them, the dime sized surface rust spot became a bill sized spot after cutting it out. There were also 6 other hidden rust spots that wasn't noticable until everything was taken apart. I even notices a crack in my rear wheel well that showed right into the interior. Oh well, most of it is fixed and I don't have any regrets taking everything off, because there was a lot I would've missed. I hope your going to have as much fun as I did. It just feels so good to save thousands and know that everything you did, you did yourself. Doing this actually made me not trust anyone else to work on my car, unless I was supervising

i already fixed my rear wheel wells. :) i put new metal in them because there were GAPING holes (i could fit almost 4 fingers through them) going from the rear wheel wells, right to the interior of the car. in the rain, i'd get wet spots on my back seat. i fixed that, problem solved, the car doesnt leak anywhere anymore.

i also replaced the entire interior with a very, very good condition gray cloth one from an '88. the interior looks very good, very clean. :)

i cleaned it out superwell when i did the interior, so that's *almost* done. (there'll always be SOMETHING i want to do to it, haha)

yes, i'll be doing all the work myself, like i always do. the ONLY things i bring my vehicles to shops for: allignments, getting tires mounted/balanced, which i take home and put on the car myself, and inspections. :)

i'll definately enjoy it. :)

Good luck with the bodywork man. The idea of a completely blacked out mkiii is  I can't wait to see pics of the finished product.

Thats exactly what I do.:biglaugh:

Can't wait to see the final, it seems our goals are very similar, color_ power_ maf-pro_ ect... I'm sure you will get your exterior done before me though. I'm glad my 86.5 is a TX car, no rot rust. The only rust I have is on the rad support where it got bent up, one day I will just cut it out and replace it. Good luck.

the only supra owner on SM, or SF who's EVER seen my car is TONY! i've never, ever posted pictures of it aside from those tail light pics. i suppose i'm secretive like that. however, soon enough, (when the snow melts away) i'll take before pics so you can all stare in disgust over how rusty it is. :(

No. We have about the same luck. I just blew my engine 2 nights ago. So now I have to find/swap another one in along with a transmission because my 3rd gear wouldnt engage as well. Lol. The only kind of luck ive ever had was bad luck.
