Ok I picked up my supra tonight and the guy tells me it's smoking but he doesn't know why (since the block has 5k on it) It doesn't smoke when you start up. But after you get into boost and let off it to an idle it smokes for a few seconds. Im thinking it's the catch can releasing oil into the turbo from over flow but what do you guys think?

Black smoke = Rich
Blue Smoke = Oil
White Smoke = Coolant

Vent the catch can to the atmosphere, block the hole in the accordian hose, and take for a run...if you still have smoke, it's something else.

Also it is blue smoke. strictly oil baby. and checked the hose from the catch can to the "accordian hose" and there was oil in it but I can't take a test drive untill tomorrow due to the tags arn't switched to the supra yet.

Do a compression test, block test and leakdown test.
If its smoking all the time, it's rings. If it's smoking only on decel, and after it's been sitting, it's valve stem seals.

It very well could be valve stem seals after 5,000mi if they used rubber ones and not viton.

well I vented the catch can into the atmosphere and it's fine, I took apart all the piping and there was oil in all of it, So I cleaned it out and am waiting to put it on (will wait till tomorrow) and then I'll try again, but for some reason oil is comming out of my catch can very badly. I drove up the road just a little ways (probably like .3 miles in total) and it was dripping out of the catch can when I got home, I only reached 3500 rpm's?

Empty the catch can? Oh...BTW, your intercooler probably has a good bit of oil condensed in it.

The catch can is there to condense oil vapor for the PVC (the two nipples on the valve covers)...it's purpose is to prevent oil vapor from being sucked through the intercooler and condensing there instead. That's why I told you to check the intercooler...it's purpose it to cool the hot air coming out of the turbo before it goes into the intake manifold.

The catch can will condense enough oil to require emptying from time to time...this is normal. If it fills up and enough oil is sucked through...well, you can get the bluish oil smoke out of the tail pipe. The oil will then start to condense in the intercooler too, reducing it's efficiency...it needs to come out.

Use gas to clean the catch can...same for the intercooler. Take the usual precautions...outside, no open ignition source (smoking).

Do a search on "oil catch can" if you want to see how other guys set theirs up.
