Well I put on my new Tanabe a few weeks ago and of course it emits smoke as i havent gotten a chance to drive it. However i was wondering the different smells of things when they burn. I know what Oil smells like when its burning. I heard Coolant Smells sweet and got a whif of that when my thermostat housing started leaking coolant onto the exhaust manifold and burned some of it off, But theres a smell coming from the exhaust and its been there for quite some time. I know my CPS is bad making my car miss and idle rough. I heard from Datsrboi that a bad CPS could cause the car to run rich as well. So im wondering if the smell of smelling from the ehxuast is gasoline. I know it cant be coolant as i have no BHG symptoms and my dad retorqued my head to 75ft lbs when we got it. Valve Seals are bad need to be replaced. Im just trying to get the kinks sorted out so i can make it out to TX2k8 Help would be great guys, yes i searched.

if the smell came as soon as you put the exhaust on the car id say its just warming up/breaking in. i put a few on that did that.

It did it when i had the old stock one on it as well thought just not as much smoke. I know the ammount of smoke is because of the new exhaust. But the smell is still there

Does it smell like rotten eggs or gas?

No it has a......sorta sweet tangyish smell to it. My dad said it was coolant that didn't burn off when the previous owner blew the head. However I have no BHG symptoms period. A friend told me it the smell was because of my CPS. And that it was running rich and that's what I was smelling

Hmm.....I dont know if you dont have BHG symptoms, i would still keep an eye on the coolant level in the reservoir. I probably wouldnt worry about it much, unless your coolant level drops every time you drive your car.
