Hey. Just got another used CT26.. which is on the right side @ picture.

Noticed that the wastegate accurator is a little different.. where the hose goes. Does this make any difference? Just want to be sure before I bolt it on..

I'm also wondering if there is something I need to do when mounting another turbo on, which has been standing for a while. Is it just to put the ignition on, let the oil pressure go up, then fire engine? Or do I need to do something else?

Thanks!

This does not make a difference. Just a change made during the production years of the MKIII. IIRC it was a post/pre-89 thing.

I've heard (actually, it was true for me between my '91 and '90) that the stock max boost is different between auto and manual, could that ^ be why? Toyota would have had to make a change to the actuator, right?

Edit:
Just remembered, both of my turbos had the actuator's hose connected in the same spot, soo... nvm.

MR2's and Celica All-Tracs with the 3S-GTE did use CT26's, but the actuators I've seen sit differently that than, and also the exhaust housing is structured differently haha

That is correct, for 89+ cars Toyota changed the wastegate on the Supra
Im not too sure about changes on the other motors that used the CT 26.

the difference shouldnt be a problem.
and ya prime the oil.. pull the fuse and crank until; u got oil pressure

Thats one way of doing it, Hes referring to the EFI fuse in case anyone was wondering...
You could also unplug the coilpack then crank to build pressure before starting.

Also, make sure everything is prepped with motor oil or assembly oil, etc.

Wouldnt that flood the engine with GAS? (pulling the coilpack harness)

No. With out a spark confirmation, the fuel injection is halted. The initial squirt with the STA signal is nothing to worry about. Max boost between auto and manual is from the heavy load of the manual. The auto slips with the fluid coupling.
