Alright guys, got a little bit of a problem......My supra seems a little (actually a lot) sluggish at higher rpms (around 5500rpms and higher). It pulls hard until like 5500 then has trouble going to redline. Could this be caused by a boost leak? And if so, is it possible to have a boost leak but not hit fuel cut? If it could be something else besides a boost leak, then Im all ears. It just bugs the crap outta me. Any help is always appreciated! Thanks

First of all....Im not liar, lol, the avatar is from when I was NA. Anyway, yes, I am stock on the fuel side, with the exception of a Walbro fuel pump. This just started recently and my car was rebuilt like 2k miles ago. I dont know if that helps you to help me, but Im really stuck on what it could be.

Block Honed (didnt need to bore)
Rebuilt Head
Wiseco pistons
Eagle rods
ARP rod bolts, head and main studs
Rebuilt ct
New timing belt
All the hoses were replaced

This is a list of what was done.....

btw...my motor will pull to 6500 it just takes forever and a day to get there beyond 5500.

well....personally i would do a compression test and a boost leak test. between 1 and 2k miles is where problems usually start happening after a build if something didnt go right. my first rebuild lasted 1200 (the night it went, it struggled past 5grand because it was losing compression)- i have a buddy whos 1st rebuild lasted just under 2k miles. both engines had multiple dead cylinders when all was said and done because of mis-boring. do a boost leak test but in my experiences with them, and ive had a lot, they dont wait till 5k rpm to start affecting performance. just my input........

I just checked the TSRM and it stated that low compression could be from improperly worn piston rings or a valve may be sticking or seating improperly....now heres my question: My mechanic said he still needed to adjust some of the valves, so could this be my problem? He said it was still drivable but it was something that he was going to do. Im still gonna get a compression tester and check for myself to see if it is out of specs, but if it something like a valve that just needs adjustment, then hopefully its an easy fix.

btw, thanks for your input

neither jerking or tranny slipping. Car pulls hard until 5500 and beyond that pulls slowly....Ill try to give you an example....

On tachometer....bare with me;)

1,2,3,4,5500,...6...6500

It just pulls significantly slower:3d_frown:

Doesnt the stock ct26 just run out of breath at 5500rpm?

I'd think so too, isn't max hp @ 5300...??? Mine's got some sort of a trim on it and I hit max at 6300 which is right near redline :evil2:

LIAR!!!!!!! lol

Is this related to adjusting the valves?

maybe I was better off with an NA, atleast I could redline the damn thing, and atleast I wouldnt be called names....:biglaugh:
