Alright so I took the intake manifolds off my motor to put on the new motor and there is about 1mm of black gritty sludge build up fullly coating the entire inside of the intake and the EGR was about 75% clogged. Ive tried using solvents, metal brushes, hell I even put one of the peices in the dish washer and this crap wont come off(dont worry took all the sensors off). The only way i can get anything off is if i scrape little tiny bits with a screw driver, until I reach metal. Anyone ever had this problem? I want to get the intake sqeaky clean for the install and this sludge is 50% grit/sand which I cant imagine would be good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Much!

Bead blasting works nicely as well...
Or running methanol injection in your ic piping, that cleans it right up.
If the intake is that gross, I'd recommend running water through your intake to clean the combustion chambers, just put a good sized vac line in a liter of water and keep the motor @ 1000 rpm or so, it will clean the insides right up.
