ok guys i got a freind who is going single turbo and he has been sizing up a few turbos this is the latest one he has been considering. he is looking to get about 400-450 who which i kno this one is good for but do u think it'll have too much lag???
its a precision turbo t67. the specs are:

Specs are as follows:

T4 .68 .81 or .96 AR rear housing v-band

compressor wheel: Inducer 2.620" (67mm) Exducer 3.310" (84mm)

exhaust wheel: Inducer 2.920" (74mm) Exducer 2.542" (64.5mm)

H-compressor cover (.75ar)

capable of 750 hp

he would be getting the .68 backhousing.

what do u think is the best turbo for the 1j for someone who is looking to build 400-450 whp without a lot of lag yet still with a wide powerband??

You dont' need anything that big for 400 - 450 rwhp. My gt35r is perfect for that amount of power. I made 543rwhp @ 24psi on my 1j, but I daily drove it at 452rwhp @ 18psi for over a year. I've now got a 1.5jz, but I still have my gt35r and I have it tuned at 501 @ 17psi. It's your choice though.

yea he and i were looking at the gt35r but its kinda pricey. does the ball bearing really make that much of a difference???

I like mine but I've read that the ball bearing only helps about two or three hundred rpm so it may not be worth the extra money. I've had mine for a little over a year, and it has zero shaft play in it. I got my kit from www.driftmotion.com

the biggest benifit i've heard from BB turbos is the re-spool after shifts.. it responds much better then a journal bearing turbo. Though on a smaller turbo like the 35r (61mm inducer) its not as noticeable. But with say a 71+ the benefits become much more apparent

what size backhousing would you guys recommend on a gt35 or any other turbo for a quick spool. and exuse me if that question is kinda broad or innaccurate in anyway. i apologize for my ignorance when it comes to turbos. lol im still in my learning processes.

I can't never remember mine, but I think it's a .82 and I also have cams. My car revs to 7500 rather easily, so it may be different than yours.

.82 is bigger than a .63 im assuming so wouldnt that take longer to spool? do they make gt35's with smaller backhousings?

OK
yes .82 a/r take longer to spool than .68 a/r and they make both .68 a/r and i think .82 a/r for the gt35r

my buddy (thereaper) has a 60-1 with a .68 and that thing rides out @ 15 psi, and spools quick. Before 4k full spool and hauling ass.. prob 3800 or so.... his has a P trim t4 turbine wheel..

yea thats almost the SAME spec as mine. it rides the hell out. on 15 psi tuned im maxing out my 440's, or coming close to it. it MIGHT be my fuel pump though but who knows.

i love my 60-1 but would still like to get a 67 later :)

Sounds good.

Reaper: Is your 60-1 T3 also? I know you have the drewgo manifold and I'm thinking of getting it if it's t3.

Drewgo makes only t4 manifolds (AFAIK), have to talk to 98MKIV on cna-t or SF for the t3 manifold. Ide say pick up a 61 or 63 at most, p-trim .81 housing.

Larger opening on the Turbine housing for the engine to push more air into the turbo. t3 should be fine for making 400hp though.

i prefer the T4 due to when upgrading to a 67 or 71 or the like its just easier to swap the turbo rather than the turbo AND manifold or getting an adapter welded to the manifold

and trust me......you WILL want to upgrade.
