Single best run ever, too bad it cost me the race.

My buddy works for Honeywell and they had a track day last Wednesday at Norwalk. They had their own bracket set up and as per usual you got a couple of runs to dial in your times. My first run was terrible, but my next two I ran nearly identical 14.115's (which at the time were my fastest runs in the car), so I figured I was good to go. I dialed in at 14.10 to give myself a little cushion. To be honest I figured I'd lose in the first round anyway because my reactions times are so terrible, (like over a second sometimes :3d_frown: ) but that's usually because I'm more worried about getting a decent launch and a good time, and not so much about beating the guy next to me. Well this one turned out different, I actually had a decent launch 2.25 60ft is good for me, and my reaction time was good as well. Basically to make a long story short, the rest is on the timeslip. I was happy to finally break 13's, but I really wanted 100mph, oh well. Sorry for the long spiel, but I thought a little background was important.

btw Mods are:
Intake
Full 3" exhaust
modified ct-26 running just under fuel cut (i.e. I hit it all the time on the street, but managed to avoid it at the track :icon_ques )
full weight+
255 Nittos at 40psi (I didn't air down)

edit... I just noticed the slip is hard to read unless you make it full size in the new window.

Oh, I am. I kinda realized I was probably going too fast when I blew by him at the end, but it just felt so good. I was really just going for my best run. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was really upset, just kinda funny how my best time turned out to be a bad thing. I'm no bracket racer anyway.:)

im confused i read the slip and it says that the guy with the 16s time won? wtf is that about? and why did you lose, im freakin confused as hell. maybe the longer story would have been better on my brain trying to comprehend stuff.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but to answer your question: He was bracket racing. In bracket racing, from what I've heard, consistancy is the name of the game. It doesn't really how fast you're going, so much as how many times you can nail the time you say your car will run.

nice run! I'm hoping to see 13's before summer ends. Right now I've just got a k&n and bic ddp (haven't gotten a catback yet, probably a blitz nur) and after that I don't know what I'm going for yet. Probably an mbc and bov. Who knows what else

Yeah, the really funny thing is he broke out of his time too, I just did it way worse. I wish I could have heard the announcers comments about that race.

Hey thanks guys for the comments.

Mob:
Yeah your right about the bracket racing. It was my first time, it was kind of odd because I got to watch the other guy leave before me and then I played catch up. It's all about consistency, but beyond that your reaction time plays a huge role because you're not allowed to go any faster than your dial time. My buddy made it to the quarter finals and lost by .004 seconds because his reaction time was a little slower.

Real good time man. How warm was it that day?

Dan

It was mid 80's that day but by the time I made my last run it was probably just south of that. The humidity was also pretty high but considering how the weather has been lately, that was still good, not like the last time we went to Milan. I figured the changing temperature would affect my runs that evening, but I believe I made up most of the time in my 60'. I was running 2.35's earlier in the day.
