So I finally wanted to do a build thread to share my project. I wanted to show it at SILV08 but issues with the tow rig and time and a fuct coilpack threw a wrench in my plans. So here it is, I wanted to do a 600-700hp drifter with the ability to drag and road race. My mom bought this car for me when I was 17. It was origionally a maroon 1988 turbo targa with the gray package and bells and whistles. I took H.S. auto shop with it and learned how to wrench on it. I am now 29 and have been through a 1,000 stories and phases with it. Through the last 12+ years I have worked on, broke and modified almost everything 2..... 3..... 4 times. I have done the majority of what you see in the last 3 years I have done most of the work including all the welding and fabracation. There is way too much to explain but I will be happy to share what I've done and how. I have alot of build pics in my photobucket album and I will post some highlights. Right now I am awaiting a new coilpack from Summit so I can start it again. I was having issues with the AEM and the Weldon fuel pump, I think I have to redo the fuel pickup anyway, BIG props to Bigaaron and Driftmotion, Jack from Suprasport, and many others including my very tolerant girlfriend, but here she is, her name is Mary-Jane.

If you want to see my whole album:

I like the engine compartment... very smartly done. uh-oh.. I feel jealousy coming on...

I love the body package actually, although would never do it. Did you do that all yourself?

I love the white paint and I don't mind the body kit but I really don't like the wing at all. Your engine work and engine bay look great and you can tell that you've put a lot of time, effort and money into it. It will look even better when you get the interior finished and all of your wires hid. Good job.

Thanks,
I know that alot of people don't like the wing and body kit, I think it gives it extra JDM tightness.:icon_bigg Seriously though, I have always liked stuff that is unique and different. I have it setup so the wing comes right off and I can go sleek and wingless for drag racing if I want but I am going to do drift events and start showing it and I want the wing, there are already 100,000 supras with wingless or stock or whale tails but only one like this, and I think that the large carbon fibre wing seems to be more accepted on the MK4 then the MK3, but I wanted to push the envelope. This isn't some shoddy bodywork on a civic, this is handcrafted with the power to back it up. This build is going to be used on the track only, everything performs a function, some of the things you don't see are the air duct work and diffuser work incorperated into the body and under the car.

I have done all the work myself including engine assembly, suspension, and most of the paint and body and all the fabracation. I have had 12 years to learn as I go. I have had some help with the trickier stuff, thanks again Driftmotion, I probably should have paid Bigaarons phonebill some months, but the car never left my garage.

The Boss turbo has been great and I can't wait to dyno and see what my creation can produce. I have ran the Boss before and I was very impressed.

The front seats and sliders where like a grand, and then the harnesses where another 300. But direct bolt in and no fitment issues from corbeau.

I am doing some tricks with the under dash wiring and the nitrous wiring right now so the cabin isn't finished. I am trying to put everything together into a master switch panel but it has been a slow process.
Thanks

...IMO. Nice engine though!

If I didn't have the wing and body I would have renamed it to "Simpsons7s another plain white supra" and I think it makes Mary Jane very sexy:naughty:

Great answer. Your car isn't going to fit everybody's likes and or dislikes, just like my car won't. We're all different and that makes everything relative. I see lots of cars that I dont' like, but none of them cars are mine and the owners have every right to do with their car what they want. I'm glad you took the high road though instead of getting butt hurt over someone else's opinon. You should know by now that not too many supra owners like that wing you chose, and that's why it's on your car and not ours.............:biglaugh:
Keep up the hard work and keep us posted.

It isn't hard at all and it shouldn't be hard to find a write up about it if you do a little searching. Good luck.

This!

I was a little harsh. My bad. Seriously though your engine bay is gorgeous! Any plans for +89 taillights and/or bigger/better fitting? (maybe just lower it some more and add some wheel spacers?) I think your car would look pretty good with those mods...

You got some great work there, love the front shot. The rear not quite my
style, but it is all well done. Would love to see you dyno results. I like it:icon_bigg

No worries, I was thinking about diffrent rear light combos but I have yet to find something beside's the stock ones that I like. I do want to go wide body and get bigger rims and wider tires, but this will do tell I get the engine done right. Thanks though.

The wing looks like the wing I had on my last 89. It may be rice but this rice I like. You car is coming together quite well. Any plans for 89+ JDM tails? Is the .cal file for your car tuned in?

I like it good pics:icon_bigg, I want to stick with the older lights, alot of people like the newer ones better but I don't know.
The cal file is tuned to my mods and yes it is about spot on for street tune, I have not dynoed yet and I will probably adjust it then and repost after.

Also, for the guy that wanted to know about the rear mounted battery, It is easy to do , just the cable is expensive, and run it through the firewall with the rest of your harness.
