Should I worry about high mileage?

Hello all- I'm looking strongly at purchasing a 87 pearl white exterior with blue interior turbo with no rust for $1000. Its a targa top, 5 speed, super clean body and a greddy exhaust, dp, and an alum. head. I need to rebuild the engine because it spun bearings. The body has 190k on it. Is this too many miles? The engine will be rebuilt with a mhg and rebuild kit. Labor is not an issue, and parts are cheap (I get a discount). Car is curently apart and has another 1/2 of a supra in boxes-

Do I jump on it?
Thanks, Paul

mileage is only a concern to the parts on the car that wear out. If they haven't been properly maintained, then teh car will ride like shit. As for the overall integrity of the shell, 190K is nothing....just make sure all the usual maintenance items have been taken care of and you'll be golden when you put the engine back in after you rebuild it.

Thanks for the quick reply- the junkyards around here have N/As and a few Turbo cars so if anything went bad parts would be accessible. Any other responses?

Well, the body is the most expensive to fix without a doubt. Make sure it is not rusted in the rear shock towers, spare tire area, rear quarter panels, & rear wheel wells.

Next, the motor...your are rebuilding it anyways.

The transmission is supposed to be pretty durable on these turbo cars (R154) & have held up fine to 700+RWHP without a problem.

Well, those are the biggest concerns as I see it. Then comes less costly things (tires, brakes, etc).
