Should I Use Bar's Leaks® on Radiator Leak???

I had every single fluid in my car flushed and replaced about 8 months ago... and then it died on me one day and wouldn't start back up for me so I left it home for 6 months while I went to college. Anyways, I plugged in the african americanized dangling starter solenoid wire a few days ago that my wonderful mechanic so graciously fabricated for me :3d_frown:. So it started right up... not really. It was kind of a bitch to get started... but that's not the point. Wow... all of the above was quite unnecessary. Basically, my radiator has a really small leak in it and I've heard some pretty good things about Bar's Leaks® products and I was wondering if that would plug it up either temporarily or even permanently... and which product I should use. Any feedback would be appreciated.

P.S. Keep in mind, the work that I have available where I live (too close to the border) is that of my pittiful mechanic. :nono:

You only have one mechanic in your town? Do you have a radiator shop? Maybe you can take off your own radiator, take it to a shop, pressure test, find the leak, and seal it. I guess.

if you put that stuff in your radiator you WILL ruin your cooling system. That is all. DONT TRY IT

Usually our rads leak from the plastic tank on top, and no magical fluid is going to fix that...

In a word, NO.

Sealing compounds don't know the difference between a leak and a vaild water passage. Using this crap will gum up your cooling system.

Either replace the radiator or have someone repair it correctly.

NO dont use it, not only is it a horrible band-aid but I wouldn't want those pellets flowing through my motor and sticking/blocking god knows what. I only used it once on a car that was dead anyway... It helped for a week.

heh, everyone beat me to it. if you have a severe concussion, would you just put a bandaid on it? hell no! you'd go to the doctor and get it checked out. well, YOU be the doctor, and get your car a nice new radiator!

You can get a radiator online for about $130 delivered in 2 days. radiator.com is one. google for your car.

PS...if you can drive, you can change a supra radiator !

OK... so I think it's unanimous. So I guess I'll just replace it. I never put any fluids into this car but the best and if there was going to be any chance of it being counter-productive I was going to nix it. Good to know, GOOD to know! And no, we have hundreds of mechanics in this town... but they all kind of suck... but I guess I'm just saying that because nobody is going to baby this car like it deserves, except the guy who owns it(me), which I'm sure is the way many of you guys feel as well. So I'm thinking of getting that Koyo Racing Radiator off eBay. Good Idea? Does it really make that big of a difference between the stock one.
