just wondering... my friend had an incident and his SP74 is slightly damaged and hes kinda desperate for a turbo and he wants my T88.

he has RPS manifold, the SP74 and turbonetics race gate. the position that the RPS unit places the WG causes the WG pressure hose to be subjected to copious amounts of heat. the rubber hose baked into a solid tube of carbon, broke off and he ran w/ no WG control for a while. the turbo spools SO slow on the street that he never saw an overboost condition till he tried to race someone. he raced a car, and overboosted, pegged his Greddy guage at 30psi, broke a rod and windowed the block on both sides of the #4 cylinder. i think the turbo was redlined. and in addition to this, the boost got so high that it went into a part of the fuel/boost map that had no correction entered, leaned out and probably had wicked high EGT's.

so, he wants to give me his turbo plus cash for my T88. i know its got alot of potential and will be better on the street than my T88, and ill be able to send it to SP, get a 76 wheel and the Anti-surge housing. at this point, i will be hard core baller-status ;) i definitly like the sound of this... but SP said the turbo will cost about $700 to rebuild, and then there is also a lead time.

in regards to my turbo, its a combination of the Greddy T88H that neither I nor any of my friends have ever seen. its definitly a compressor wheel from a T88, and id say its a TD08 compressor housing. but the hot side is where things get weird. its a 17cm2 exhaust housng, smaller than any readily-avaiable T88 listed for sale. on top of which, it has a 4-bolt 3" DP flange that has been Brazed onto the exhaust housing. i was told by the previous owner that it USED to be a V-band flange but it was changed by the owner prior to the previous owner.

what do you guys think?

i think carlos is a homo and needs to get the car back from jim and stop fucking around... 70psi compression in cylinder number 6... yeah id start there....

as for the trade...i dont think you need to worry about lead time considering you have no engine yet...so that shouldnt matter in your decision...

as for the trade itself... i think you will enjoy the 74 much more then the 88 for street driving purposes... and depending on how much cash carlos gives you i would say go for it...but i would definitley make sure that he pays you for your work FIRST...then tack another like 300-500 as part of the trade....

will that 88 even bolt up to his setup?
