Hey, I have been using the "SOGI short shifter mod" for a while now and is it just me or does everyone esle think its really tight shifting? Just wondering what everyones opinion is on using it, and is it worth actually paying the money to get a short shifter.

I have driven a few mk4's and an rx7 with and without the short shifter, I actually prefered the stock setup on the mk4, the short shifter actually made my shifts slower, on the rx7 however the short shifter helped a great deal, so if you can maybe drive someones that has the short shifter and see if it fits your driving style or not.

What i was trying to say is, is an actual short shifter that you buy gonna be nicer and smoother in the mk3 than what im running with now(I did the sogi short shift mod). because it feels kinda rough to me.

i did the sogi mod and adapted the remaining shifter to allow the stock shift knob to screw on.

theres nothing better! no noise, no vibration, its just perfect.

I had a short shifter in my old car. I hated it, I missed shifts (physically missed the shifter, lol) when on spirited drives, it was hard as hell to differentiate between 1st and 3rd, didn't track right and it was almost as boring to drive as an automatic, but with the work of a manual, heh. You could shift faster though...but it was like playing with a joystick.

Stock length ftw.

<--- C's short shifter, here ... absolutely love it!

I dunno what a sogi mod is ... but trust me on this one - save up the coin & buy the best - it's well worth it !!

i've driven cars with shortshifts, and i ended up going with the sogi shortshift mod, except a bit shorter than that mod even calls for. i rethreaded thelower stick to accept the stock knob. it looks and works great.

i had a wicked vibration right after i did it, and i found that i was completely missing the bushing in there. (didn't even know there was supposed to be one) i got the "green truck shifter gakset" or whatever it's called, and i love my SOGI mod even more. shifts like butter, and i can feel each gear perfectly...

I did the Sogi short shift mod a few months ago and I thought it was okay until I installed the "Green truck bushing" and the "White pivot bushing". Now I love it. Those two bushings make shifting so much more precise. I don't see myself spending money on a short shifter unless I drive someone else's and it feels much much better.

Same here, I love it. Actually, I get abit of vibration from my shift knob when it's at a certain RPM in 3rd, but I think that has to do with both the exhaust and the shift knob.

Where did you buy the green truck bushing from, and how much was it?
