Anyone know an affordable way besides UPS / FedEx / Greyhound? I'm talking 81" by 26" by 14". Also maybe a good place to get affordable boxes?

I used to use a company called Bax Global for this stuff. I don't know if they are still cheap but they used to be.
A lot of carriers now give quotes online. Just shop around for any shipper that advertises LTL discount rates.
Example:

To ship a 100 lb package that is the dimensions you specified from here (Woodstock, GA) to you (Milwaukee, WI) with both the pickup & delivery locations being residential, they quote it at $328
Weight is the big factor so if this is lighter it could be considerably less.

My dad gets stuff for his business from Harbor every day so they can't be that expensive... I'll ask him though...
Probably only 30lbs. Going all the way to CA though! Greyhound sounds like a steal, they quoted me only $63, but I'm not sure if he wants to pick it up much
