ok, so yesterday i decided to go out and shim the wastegate a lil more. i hit 10 pounda now and i just thought is turn it up a lil more. well, i get done and take it out for a quick spin and nothing.

spool time and throttle response is a lot better, but i have no extra boost pressure. i know i have to replace the tb connector.

no boost creap. no spikeing. low boost surge is gone now.

anyone have a idea of somthing i could look into?

how much did you shim? it sounds like you might have just shimmed enough to over come the looseness of the wg diaphram. try adding a few more shims and see what happens.

it sounds like you have otherproblems with your car you have to sort out (gathered from other threads, and your comment " i know i have to replace the tb connector") before you start or continue modding.

fix all your cars little problems first then try to raise the boost.

most lil issues have been fixed and the tb adapter is on order from toyota.

the rest of the lil issues are getting done here and there given materials and time.

as for the exaust, 3" dp, no cat, no resinator, and a pace setter muffler at the end. ported manifold and elbow. i only used 2 shims. might just need to use a couple more.

GJ: its not quite cracked yet, but ya can tell its old and a lil dry rotted. no boost creap though (YET **crosses fingers**)

i used some of the washers that were on there. there are on the thin side. that could be it. my needle on the boost gauge had only moved about 1/2 a pound.

i even ran open dp to see if it made any change to the car. nothing. same readings, just loud (i like it that way but the fiancee dont.)

it is a stock turbo if that matters any. my research sez that i could hold about 14 pounds and be ok. and i have with a hks evc 4. wish i still had it now.

they are quite thin. im willing to bet that there are just too thin to matter.

so i guess a better question is, what is the max boost some one has hit reliably on a ct-26 for a daily driver?

Buy an MBC off Dr J for $28? then you can set your boost alot more accurately. Putting to many shims on your wastegate isn't going to do it any good over time it will just fuck the diaphragm.

Boost, I was using the head bolt washers - the ones that go on your head bolts / studs. They are pretty thick, at least a couple mm each. I had three on each bolt.

If you are using standard thickness washers, you would need a whole lot of them.
