Hey guys I've recently bought a short shifter (follow link for pics of the shifter I got http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=40566&highlight=short+shift

I would like to take the rubber gear boots from the old shifter to place onto the new one but I can't seem to take off the massive bulge on the original shifter.

Is that bulge detachable? because i'd like to place that back on to the shifter aswell.

if youre talking about the big round part it rocks on, you dont take that off, use what the new one came with. If you're talking about the little plastic bushing at the bottom you just have to push it off very hard.

To get that off you will have to destroy it! I did it last weekend when I did the sogi mod to my shifter....if you plan on tossing the origional out then the easy way is just cut the shaft right at the base...the rubber holding the big part on is some strong shit....I torched the big part and burned the rubber off it and slid it off then sanded the rest off the shaft....but yeah just chop the stick in half if you can.
