hi, i have an 88 usdm sup, and im installing an jdm 89+ gte motor.

my question is, can i re-use the water temp sensors for the ecu and stuff so long i re-use and solder in the connector/ change the connector using apin tool.. reason for solder is the wire insulation is cracked near the connector at a tight bend, figured i would use a better wire .. im decenct at soldering.
already reconneted the knock sensor,

also im trying to switch an throttle position sensor connector one's cracked, and i haven't figured out how to get it apart, this i'll rather not solder that one

also i have yet to be able to find an ecu pin out for an 88 supra. i know i saw an 87 tsrm some where but where it went who knows!

Actually, I would use the USDM sensors on your old motor. I did the same as you, but my CSI time switch on the JDM wasn't gettting the job done. I would have to try 3 times to get the car running. I checked the CSI for fuel and that worked, but the resistances on the time switch weren't exactly per the TSRM. As soon as I put the USDM one back in and used my old connector, no more problems. It would fire up on the first try.

Same thing happened with the oil pressure sending unit. I was getting whacky oil pressure readings with the JDM unit, but as soon as I plugged my USDM unit back in, it was fine.

The wire colors matched and everything and I can't explain why they might be different, just telling people what I experienced and what I did to fix it.

the only thing i changed when i dropped my '89 JDM GTE in my 86.5 chassis was the oil pressure sending unit. everything else worked fine. :)

alright well thats good to hear, i already changed one sensor for the watet temp, would have gotten the other but i have a nasty connector to deal with... and i figured if i could use the 89 style why not?

ive already changed the oil presure sender with a new oem unit..

the 7mge i pulled out was a basket case.. the dude before me pulled it apart found out what was wrong and sold me the car 7months down the road.. i dont know if i have all the sensors and what not. their in my trunk... along with head cams and just about every thing else....

yeah, all i did was make sure the engine harness matched the yearspan of my car, (87-88 T because i was an 86.5 N/A) and changed the oil pressure sending unit. everything else i left the same. though, i do recall splicing a few different connectors on... but they were all easy one-wire connectors, and easy to reach, too. (4 at most)
