I can't figure out any better way to cool the upper intake pipe. with it being setup the way it is I don't see how the intercooler is doing anything. my pipe is getting so hot I can't touch it. would 50 mph winds cool it down at all? would that be way to rice? also thinkin about a roof one cause it's freakin hot down here in texas with out AC.

when i think about a scoop i think about the WRX STI... i also think about muscle cars. scoops and vents are fine on your hood. Huge wings on front wheel drive cars, are not.

i think its funny that you would consider a roof scoop because i have never seen a use for them in the past, and this would be a pretty good use heh.

i would suggest a ceramic coating or wrapping the pipe, that would of course cost more than cutting a hole in your hood though.

i would also suggest a bottle of water, or a bag of ice, or rolling down your windows to deal with the heat, my previous supra had no A/C and i work outside all day around dallas.

heh, just drive around with a bag of ice on my lap. hood vent and roof scoop would be more how I would go. actually the roof vent is supposed to be used for the sole purpos of air in the cab. it's just every time I see one on an import it makes me cringe. of course I'll be mounting all mine with rivets to keep with the mad max theme.

My car came with a with a hood scoop that the pervious owner installed. It is functional but doesn’t really do much. I believe it was Shawndude that did a study and found that the cooling benefits of a hood scoop would be minimal if not negative because of the high and low pressure areas above and below the car. A hood scoop would disturb this and hinder air flow through the cooling elements. Plus a hood scoop could disturb the high pressure needed to generate down force at high speeds. If your really bothered by the heat on the upper IC pipes then use some thermal barrier ceramic tape, I think a few members on here have gone that route. In the end I'm getting rid of this hood as soon as I get the car out here to California. Here is a pic of it.

do the 2-3 washers per bolt trick and jack up the rear of the bonnet at the hinges.remove the weatherstrip if needed and there u go.instant hot air release, then do the thermo fan switch mod and u have hot air gettin pumped out of the gap in the bonnet.
