I was planning on going to school to become an auto tech but started to think about it and relised would I want to do auto for a living and as a hobby. I really have no idea on what to do now since I have spent the last 4 years planning this but kinda turing away from it now.

I am mechincally inclined so probally want to do something related to mechanics. So just wondering what kinda jobs are out there for those of us that are mechancally inclined?

I have thought about electral, zap myself to much as is, welding possibilly able to do most types and was almost cert in it.

I came to same realization recently. I got into a school for it and everything, and now that I work around people who work on cars for a living, none of them seem really happy. I pulled the plug on that just in time.
Plus I've had some shop time and it is just a different world compared to working on your own car.

I've always loved airplanes too, so I'm currently looking into aviation careers - yes, even mechanics.

There are plenty of "mechnical" jobs out there.
Good Luck.

I won't work on cars for a living unless it's either new cars or highly modified...

working on someone else's shit all day and then coming home to work on the supra would suck. Right now I enjoy working on the supra...

This was meant to help me come up with ideas when I have to decide on a major I know what field to do.

Actually was thinking of doing diesel mech as a living then do supra and others as a hobby not the same but not totally unrelated.

I was going to go to UTI to become a tech. I change my mind , because it does suck to go home and work on your car then go back to work and work on peoples cars. That's why i work on motorcycles. Still going to skol . (software engineer)

Currently I work at UPS loading turcks, if I wear a white shirt to work it is black by the end of the night, and who is afraid of dirt or grime or grease to me that is just fun.

I've heard UTI is a waaaay expensive and over-hyped. Ive been there and done that. I actually thought of going back to auto school then remembered why I left that. Unless u have "connections" at a high prestigious auto co.(porsche,mercedes,aston-martin etc.) ur going to find urself frustrated and paying back a huge loan.

Why do wyotech or UTI for 35K+ where I can go to a school here and do it all for around 12k and being able to have and extra 23k in pocket.
