SAFC+VPC/Piggyback to solve my low idle problem in gear?

Hey guys

So after building my engine , it seems as if the stock ecu is not able to keep up with my new setup.

Main components Ive changed are forged pistons (slightly oversized --> had to bore/hone) and TRD cams , what kind exactly- I'm not sure but they are alot bigger leading to a lumpier idle.

It idles fine in neutral , but as soon as I put it into gear it idles low and dies. Already checked every other possible cause (ISCV , throttle body etc) and I am adamant it is because of the more air due to the bigger cams and am therefore running very lean leading to low idle and dying in gear.

I don't really have the money for a supply fit and tune for a standalone right now , so my question is , would a piggyback or SAFC+VPC be adequate to solve my low revs and stalling problem for now?

If so , what piggyback would you guys recommend? Or would a standalone be the only option.

Auto?

You just need to raise the idle. Something thats going to be hard with the stock ecu still plugged in.

Yes auto :( And the auto gearbox is busted so I have to manually select first and second ( or L and 2 ) . This combined with the fact that once it dies, it doesn't start (another problem that Im already looking into) , makes it impossible to drive anywhere.

Ive already hunted down an r154 conversion kit , but would love to fix my idle problem first.

How else can I change the idle so it doesnt idle to low and die in gear?

When I had the VPC/SAFC combo, there was that initial hiccup that would tend to stall the motor when stepping on the gas from idle. To avoid stalling, I had it feather the gas for a second to raise the RPM a little, then I could mash the gas pedal. From what I was told this was common with the setup. That was a minor issue.

The major issue with the combo was tuning difficulty. When the VPC is adjusted, the SAFC has to be adjusted, then the VPC has to be adjusted, then the SAFC had to be be adjusted, then the VPC had to be adjusted.... You get my drift? It's better to go with 550cc injector/ Lexus LS400 AFM combo.

(I ended up going with an AEM standalone.)
