so during the course of my MHG job i ran into the point where i was ready to fire the car but had no oil filter and it was very late at night. i happen to have a new oil filter for my old 89 240sx so i thought i would try on it on a long shot. turns out it went right on there!!! later in comparison on the 7m oil filter to the s13 the s13 was much longer and just as fat as the 7m one. the only problem i ran into was when i was going to take it off my filter wrech kept getting caught on the motor mount. its not that big of a deal but i thought i would just put that out there. so if you want .2 more oz of oil in your motor you should pick up an s13 filter.

ill try and get some pictures up when i can to let you guys check it out. lol

Unless it holds a quart or more of oil, there really isn't any point in using one that is slightly larger for an extra .25 quart (if that) unless you just want to have an extra .25 quart of oil to leak out before adding more. If you want more capacity use a dual remote filter setup.

Good thought, but I don't think the capacity you would gain would be significant enough to cause any differences. For simplity, assume that the filters are perfectly cylindrical. Also lets assume that the interior of them is hollow. If that were true you would gain .0897 quarts of oil by using the 240's filter. The actual volume increase will be less since some of the volume difference will be consumed by the filter material.

Yeah it will conatin more material...I said that in the last sentence of my post. I was making the point that the absolute max it could gain you is very little...figure in the details and its even smaller.
