I have also been curios on this,as the Apexi lists as being able to work w/turbo cars but they also have a different AFM,correct? Are they even able to be wired into the NA's afm?I do believe this would help,as my na runs piss rich at wot.

Yeah you can run it if you want. There is a wiring diagram some where on this forum for a NA. It was in a thread with a bunch of SAFC pin outs for different ECU's

Yes the SAFC will work, worked well with mine, a plus if you have made mods that you want to take advantage of by being able to tune it. Unless you have a wideband 0-2 you have to get it tuned at a dyno shop for the best tune.

Which version of the safc did you use?I can get one of the older one's from a friend for $50(silver case w/blue screen)

Yea the base timing was 10, never really cared enough to run more timing ;)

could have always tried it and see how the ECU reacted... i would have loved to taken my n/a to the point of 180-200whp... but i just couldnt see spending that kind of money without making it a semi-race/autocross car.

how much power gain can really come from advancing the timing that much? How many people Actualy run advanced timing

Exactly, i fully understand. I was more than happy with my couple little mods on my n/a and i saved the real money for the turbo swap.

I wouldnt say much. As IJ always says" the ge was pretty finely tuned from the factory." For sakes of sakes i would like to know as well

the way i think of it, with the SAFC, or another fuel tuning device, you could make more use of the advanced timing because you have better control over the fuel. and im sure a ported, bigger valves, cammed GE would enjoy the little bump in timing as long as it got tuned.

on a street car that is daily driving, i didnt notice a thing...

ij is proably right but our cars are 20 years old so i think they will need a retune.i bet a million bucks the tuning has slowly gone outa wack over the years.and holding a buck 140 on the hw for like 2 min:aigo::biglaugh: all the launches the tuning is gona be off by a ton.

You're right, if you make changes like that you have to have a way to tune. After rebuilding mine it wouldn't run right, until I installed a SAFC.

Timing, yes you can bump up the timing, I'm at 17 deg BTDC. Not that I would recommend everybody do that, I also run 93 octane and have a way of adjusting the tune and seeing what it's doing with the Maft-Pro.
