OK here's the story I pick this car up for $800 Not running. Found out that it had a BHG of course. Planed on fixing it and selling it to turn a profit, but I ended up liking it too much to let go. So I will be selling my 1JZ and slowly building this one up. The interior is in great condition. body is in good condition Paint on top looks a little faded but should be nothing a good buff can't bring back, And a little dint on the left of the drivers side tail light Other than that it's straight. I scored some great looking saw blades from JDMMA70.
I want to keep it looking stock. The engine will have Je pistons, eagle rods, Gates water pump, timing belt, Clevite, and arp all the way around. I will be sending it to the machine shop for them to assemble and also have them do my head work(port and polish). I hope to have it all together with in a month. I will add mods later that will be the slow part of my build. And now for the pics

This is me and my bro in law picking it up In Austin. About 6 months ago.

the crankshaft was machined? you assembling the motor yourself?

Yes and no. I'm gonna take it to a machine shop here. I don't trust myself. So I'll have them put it together and also port and polish, resurface and pressure test my head.

Status update: Block still at the shop getting put together. Took my head to the shop, they said it was a P.O.S. I went to the junk yard and saw a n/a with what looked like a nice shinny head. So I pulled it, all the gaskets around it looked new. I guess it was a failed head gasket job. Bought it for $70, I took it home and striped it down .Took it to the shop first thing they asked is were "were did you get it from" Told them the junk yard. He was really surprised . They pressure tested it and shaved it flat. It was barely warped. I'm waiting on My gasket set and oil pump. Things are coming together, just not as fast as I would like. Want to get this thing done by TX2K10.

Yeah Slow, But I'm trying to make it to TX2K10 with my 7m. We'll see. I'm gonna start putting my head together and Monday I'm gonna drive down to the machine shop and check the progress of my block and drop off my oil pump, oil pan, and some gaskets. As soon as I get it back I start slamming it and get it in the car as soon as possible.

Yeah It doesn't come with a hg Gonna go with a hks stopper. Not planning on using the oil pan gasket. Plan on using some sealant for the oil pan forgot what my buddy uses but it works real good almost too good if you plan on ever taking the oil pan off. I did get it off of ebay, for like $130. I plan on putting it together with in the month I'll let you know how it goes. I'll be the guinea pig.

I agree, use a good bead of silicone on the oil pan. Even the gasket set that Saftey Gaskets and DriftMotion sells comes with a oil pan gasket. I use a bead of silicone on every gasket except on the exhaust manifold.
