i doubt it, as the charcoal canister is only used to vent fuel vapors from the gas tank. you dont have the lines blocked off do you?

you must have a vented gas cap or a line venting it to somewhere...

a guy on another board recently had a similar problem. after he removed the charcoal canister, the engine would stall at times from running too rich. it turned out that he just bridged the two lines normally connected to the canister instead of venting the line coming from the tank :dunno:

This is an easy 1 question quiz to find out if you are running rich.

¤1: Do you own a Supra? If yes, then you are running rich.

hahahaaa.....

i removed my canister too, all i did was bent the hard line straight on one end and ran the venting line straight out the wheel well.....now it smells gooooooood!!...hehehe

yes, just pull it out and vent the steel hardline to someplace OUTSIDE the engine bay. it's not something that really needs to be explained. just start pulling out the screws that hold it in, until it's not connected to your car anymore. cap off any other vacuum hoses. the reason we do it is to clean up the engine bay. it's a nuisance where it is, and it's ugly, too.

well to my understanding the valve opens to move the vented gas fumes when the car is hot enough to open tha valve......in other words nothing i particularly care about care about......

but i'm not 100% on this.......and i've been wrong when i thougt i was 100% before so, asking is the smart move

trace the vacuum lines back to where they origionate, and cap them. basically, the BVSV only opens when the water in the thermostat housing reaches a certain tempertature. with no charcoal canister in there, you dont need it. you can just leave the ports on the BVSV open, as they wont leak anything. just make sure you cap the vacuum lines because vacuum leaks suck. (no pun intended;))

you CAN loop them, if you'd like, but it's a much cleaner removal if you cap them where they origionate.

i just had a great idea, this has probably been already mentioned, or even accomplished, but since our cars run rich "naturally" - what if you had a completely stock low-milage mkiii, 6.8psi, perfect compression and the only mod you add is an s-afc to lean it out a little, then dyno the car and see what it really puts out stock. i'm going to try this with my next mkiii.

that has to be the longest run-on sentence ever!

I salvaged one of the allen screws from my NA thermo housing and put it in place of the BVSV and plugged the vacuum line ports on the TB.....very simple and looks clean. Did the same on my friends car.

No it won't cause you to run rich.
No these cars do not run "naturally rich"
Have you checked it with a wideband or measured the stock O2 voltage?
It is common to have 1 or more wires break just inside the O2 plug. It will run rich if that's the case.
