some of you saw the vid i made of my mums ga70 1ggte to 7mgte swap... well unfortunately her car is the victim

seems she's running a bit lean, pulled #5 & #6 plugs and they are quite pinky.. ya know when you heat up steel heaps and it starts glowing.. it's that kinda colour

so... did the VF check and here's my results

idle = 2.5v = perfect
cruising but accelerating is 3.5v.. adding 5-10% of fuel?
deceleration is 1.5v so it's the typical lean off
wot = 5v :cry:

judging by #5 & #6 plugs i don't think it's clogged injectors or they wouldn't show the same signs... i'm thinking the fuel pump is on it's way out?
fpr dead?

the vsv that feeds the fpr.. what does it do exactly... can i remove it so the fpr gets uninterrupted vacuum?

any other ideas?

thanks for any help :D

and yes it's hooked up correctly ;)
yes it has an ma70 pump (and i do suspect ga70 ones are smaller)
and i don't have a fp gauge available tomorrow morning but i'm gonna bolt my fpr on as that one was working a beaut

i'm thinking the diaphram has collapsed in the fpr and it's only getting base fuel pressure under boost... hence the slow increase of fuel to wot... i'm not getting surging etc

Thanks :D

Do you have the fuel pump resistor hooked up? My resistor wouldn't switch from 9v to 12v and my car was leaning out up top. Jumpered the connector and now shes running rich as ever!

Uhm, is Vf supposed to say anything at WOT (open loop) at all? If I'm not mistaken, Vf shows how much the ECU is correcting the mixture based on the O2 input; but in open loop, the O2 input is completely ignored anyways. Thus I wouldn't worry too much about the 5V at WOT... I might be wrong though.

^ yes.. correct maps are pre written for up there... so 02 isn't used... but regardless... it's still running lean... i only pop it up there for a few secs...

we kept blowing up the fuel pump resister.. why? we have no idea... so i bypassed it by jumping b+ and fp in the diag box... i'm assuming this is the same as 12v mod?
also i think it has been progressivly running lean... slowly fuel economy has been improving... so i guess whatever is dying is taking it's time

thanks ya'll for your suggestions :)
