I had recently purchased Brembo cross drilled / slotted rotors and my oh my are they pretty.

saddly i look at my old rotors and they are covered in rust... except of course where the brake pads have been hitting...

i saw a picture of someone with similar rotors to mine as well and they are obviously a few years old with a little bit of rust in the drilled areas.

now i was wondering, i have a plan. and it would include me coating them with a black rust encapsulator along with a caliper paint on top of that (silver or something of the sort)

how does it sound?

and of course i will want to paint my brake caliper red, to further imitate the look of a big break kit :biglaugh:

Brake rotors will reach about 1000 F in "normal operation", and way over that if you're punishing them.

That rust proofing will create a nice fire, if you choose to go with it.

best solution is to cadmium plate them. powerslot sells their rotors already plated, but any plating shop should be able to do your stock rotors for cheap (local shop quoted me $20/rotor)

May be toxic if you drink it :biglaugh: I'm sure chrome is toxic aswell, but after it is applied it's safe.

i was thinking more along the lines of athbestos, but you are right... it shouldn't be too bad as it is not going to be airborne etc etc

but..its the way i am gonig to go, once i find a plating shop around dallas~ anyone know of any? or a good online site? :)

I come from a land down under
Any of the heat dispersant coatings would work and are thin enough not to affect the balance of the disc. (Ceramic may if it's not applied evenly)

I've been thinking about this for my Mk4 TT rotors/AP Racing 4 spot calliper combination as they don't cover the full face of the rotor.
